I had to share this beautiful white wine I had tonight. It was a Christian Auney 2018 Graves Blanc Cuvee Cana from Bordeaux.
While Bordeaux is known primarily for its famous red wines, its Left Bank region (Graves and Pessac-Léognan) produces incredible white wines. This Christian Auney blend is 50% Semillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Sauvignon Gris and 5% Muscadelle. Production runs around 4000 bottles per vintage.
On the nose I got golden apple, chamomile, cotton candy, and beeswax. On the palate there was a seductive complexity of orange peel, honey, brioche and mango. Perfectly rounded, juicy and balanced. It finishes soft with an acidity that is a constant reminder of how a wine should be made. This really is a gorgeous wine!
I bought this at Cask Fine & Rare Wines in Katonah, NY.
