Ravines Wine Cellars

Finger Lakes, NY

December 1, 2020

Founded in 2001, Ravines Wine Cellars is a family-owned winery that has been producing sustainable wines in the Finger Lakes Region of NY. ⁣

⁣ The glacial lakes provide just enough warmth to extend the growing season and give the grapes a little extra hang time on the vine. Still, the cool climate gives you wines with bright flavors and racy acidity which is a true reflection of the region’s personality.

⁣ ⁣ ✨Ravines Dry Riesling 2017: Classic expression of a riesling with flavors of honeysuckle, gardenia, lemon, lime and yellow apple which was wonderful because its exactly what you get on the nose. None of the characteristics disappear on the palate. The tastes lingers on with a great mineral finish. A lovely wine!⁣ ⁣

✨Ravines Chardonnay 2017: Beautiful golden color with lanolin, chamomile, apricot, papaya and melon on the nose. With tastes of cantaloupe, yellow apple, butterscotch, and vanilla, this wine finishes off dry with medium acidity. I had this with shrimp over polenta and they tasted great together.⁣ ⁣

✨Ravines Cabernet Franc 2018: Medium ruby color with fresh rose petals and orange peel instantly on the nose. You also get red currants, black cherries, cranberry and cloves every time you go back to the glass. I tasted black currants, red plum, bell pepper and just a hint of nutmeg on the finish. Excellent wine and an easy drinker. I tasted this one alone but would love pork dish with it next time.⁣

ACKER AUCTION WIN!
March 28, 2022

I scored this 2000 @cerettowinery "Bricco Rocche" Barolo at one of the weekly web auctions held by Acker Wines. I always have fun bidding because I know I won’t find these labels (especially considering the vintage) at my local wine stores. I also love winning :-)
